Ujoh AW24
Ujoh's luxurious AW24 collection channels 80s nomadic elegance and was a stunning display of sartorial sophistication. AW24 drew inspiration from Bruce Weber's iconic "Men & Women" photography series from the 1980s. Designer Mitsuru Nishizaki masterfully translated the essence of that bygone era into a modern, luxurious wardrobe for the contemporary urban nomad.
The collection was characterized by a graceful and exotic use of fabrics, with layers of beautiful materials like wool, sateen wovens and nylon taffeta. The color palette was a harmonious blend of neutral tones; black, khaki, slate blue, and ivory punctuated by deeper shades of plum and olive. Nishizaki's silhouettes were both structured and voluminous, This collection was full of layers. Completely oversized wool fringe scarves were casually draped over suiting and coats. Trench capes were worn in both full length and cropped. The layering of coats and jackets was so masterfully done that we almost cannot imagine being without any of the pieces. Every single look encouraged us to be wrapped in luxurious cloth.
Ujoh's AW24 collection was a true celebration of the joy of being wrapped in cloth, seamlessly blending the elegance of the past with the sophistication of the present. It was a testament to Nishizaki's exceptional design prowess and his ability to capture the essence of timeless style.
