Ruohan AW24
Here we are, finally at the end of our journey with Ruohan. The third and last chapter of the series, "Forms, Lines and Point". All of the collections have finally been presented and it feels a little bittersweet. This last one is "Point" and it returned us all to the very essence of clothing in its most primitive form. Designer Ruohan Nie focused on a single element and varying the depths and layers from a single point.
What this designer does so well is textiles. Nie actually teaches you how to appreciate textiles in this trilogy. Anybody can design a long sleeve maxi dress with a scoop neckline. The fabric that is used is the foundation of the design. From the get-go, look number one, I was excited. An oversized cream V-neck vest is worn over a long sleeved shirt, skirt and pants in what looks like a silk blend fabric. The movement is softly elegant but still held a little bit of rigidity. The colors of this collection were grabbed right from the closet of a quiet luxury woman. Tan, beige, ivory, black with pops of red and terracotta. A single shoulder wrap sweater worn over a lightweight skirt and pants was my absolute favorite look. It was so elegant and well, expensive looking. This collection had everything. Everything from sensuous one shoulder clingy draped dresses, sumptuous cocoon coats to lavishly oversized wool wraps.
This entire collection looked very upscale and well worth the money. Everything was elevated. I could throw any of these items on in any order and layer them in hundreds of different ways and I would feel completely stellar in every iteration. And that might just be the point that this designer is making.
