Mark Fast AW25
The Mark Fast AW25 show at London Fashion Week was a masterclass in textile innovation, blending rebellion with romance. Fast’s signature knitwear took center stage, reimagined with bold contrasts. Delicate hollow-knit dresses juxtaposed with leather accents that exuded raw power. The collection’s theme, "Utopia Destroyed by Acid Rain," was a poetic nod to destruction and rebirth, mirrored in the intricate tassels and metallic hues that shimmered down the runway.
Fast pushed boundaries with 3D knitting techniques, creating sculptural silhouettes that danced between fragility and strength. Fringed mesh dresses swayed with every step, while oversized coats in gold and orange evoked ancient Greek opulence. This season we saw less of the streetwear aesthetic and I was glad to see it go. Having been to many seasons of Fasts' shows, that angle just really wasn't him nor was it something that the audience necessarily wants from him. The AW25 show felt more like a return to what he is best at, designing intricate yet forceful looks. The show’s soundtrack, a collaboration with experimental trio Širom, wove an eerie yet electrifying backdrop, proof that Fast’s storytelling extends beyond fabric.
For AW25 Fast proved that knitwear could be both avant-garde and wearable, a rebellion stitched with precision. As I left the venue, a fellow editor sighed, "I’d wear every piece, even in a thunderstorm." And honestly? Same.
