TAAKK AW25

TAAKK has consistently been my last show at Paris Men's Fashion Week for some time now. I always get super excited about this one because it is always, ALWAYS absolutely stunning. Takuya Morikawa's creations have always intrigued me, and this AW25 collection promised to be no exception.

The show opened with a mesmerizing display of fabric innovation, a hallmark of TAAKK's design philosophy. Morikawa's childhood memories of his father's inventions and his mother's surrealist art books have clearly left an indelible mark on his creative process. This season, we saw an exploration of "dépaysement", a surrealist technique that places familiar objects in unexpected contexts.

The collection's standout pieces were a testament to this concept. Leopard patterns seamlessly fused with denim, while wool and herringbone melded into one cohesive fabric. It was as if Morikawa had taken a paintbrush to traditional menswear, blurring the lines between materials and silhouettes. TAAKK is always challenging our perceptions of what menswear can be. The gradient woven fabrics, a TAAKK signature that Morikawa has been perfecting for years, added depth and intrigue to the collection.

What I appreciate most about TAAKK is how Morikawa manages to push boundaries while maintaining wearability. His designs may be avant-garde, but they never feel costumed or impractical. It's a delicate balance that few designers achieve with such finesse. As the models made their final walk, I found myself reflecting on the power of fashion to challenge our perspectives. TAAKK's FW25 collection wasn't just about clothes, it was a reminder that creativity knows no bounds when we allow ourselves to see the world through a different lens. Leaving the show, I felt inspired to inject a bit of that TAAKK magic into my own wardrobe. Perhaps I'll pair an unexpected print with a classic silhouette or experiment with textures in new ways. I think I need more texture in my closet and I know exactly where to find it.
