Ouest Paris SS25
I thought nothing could top last season's show. And I'm still not sure that this has but it's right up there with the notion of fun ideas. This season, Ouest took us behind the dodgy looking curtain at the very back of the video rental store and unveiled the world of the Ouest man. Kitschy, sexy, tongue in cheek and around lollipops at this presentation.
Models took turns standing at the storefront window, taking poses in groups of 3 to 5. They played with the passerbys and show attendees, gesturing for everybody to come in and take a closer look. Very reminiscent of the infamous Amsterdam red light district. Once inside it looked like a retro video store with neon homemade "Kinkwave" and "Riders" signs all over the walls. There were various backdrops set up throughout the space resembling magazine covers. Models took turns posing in front of the backdrops for photo shoots. The entire experience was hilarious!
As shocking as this all was, what's even more shocking was how wearable all the clothing were. There were pops of bubble gum pink, light baby blue and daffodil yellow with black and white and denim anchoring the colors. Many of the looks look like an offshoot of workman clothes, rugged relaxed and wearable for multiple seasons. Pants are relaxed, shorts are extremely long like board shorts and t-shirts and tank tops were optional underneath jackets. All the models had such big personalities and roped you into the fantasy world for a couple of hours. There was one model who was very personable and right before I left I took just a few more snapshots of him and when he saw me he went, "You again!" but with such a big smile I couldn't resist featuring him. That's what these Ouest shows feel like to me, a big inviting smile.
