Florentina Leitner SS25
Florentina Leitner's SS25 at PFW was nothing short of magical! I still can’t believe I made it up five flights of stairs to this charming little French parlor on the "4th" floor (a French 4th floor is an American 5th). When I finally arrived, the staff were in a bit of a frenzy trying to find me a seat. But you know what? I politely declined. I had a hunch that standing right by the entrance would give me the best shots, and as suspected, was I right. The allocation felt like the "economy plus" of fashion shows, gave me just enough of what I needed.
Florentina’s collection was inspired by the enchanting 1982 animated classic "The Last Unicorn", based on Peter S. Beagle’s beloved novel. If you’ve ever watched that movie, you know it’s all about nostalgia and wonder. Florentina has a knack for storytelling, and she brought that magic to life with her designs. The collection captured the unicorn's epic quest to find her lost kin, her transformation into a human, and her dramatic encounters with the Red Bull. This collection felt like walking right into that fairytale.
Florentina worked closely with Beagle's team to ensure every piece honored the spirit of "The Last Unicorn". As she beautifully put it, “The Last Unicorn was a defining part of my childhood, and with this collection, I wanted to revive that sense of wonder and translate it into today's fashion.” Florentina blended playful creativity with deeper themes. The collection wasn’t just pretty clothes, it made you think about your own journey of transformation and identity. The bold colors mixed with softer pastels created a stunning visual narrative, just like the unicorn’s own journey.
In a world where trends come and go, Florentina Leitner’s SS25 collection reminded us all about the power of storytelling in fashion. It encouraged us to reconnect with our inner child and embrace that sense of wonder we often lose as adults. As I left the show, I felt a sweet nostalgia. Florentina has truly carved out a unique space in contemporary fashion where magic meets modernity. This collection was decidedly perfectly dreamy.
