TAAKK AW24
As Fashion Week drew to a close for me, this was my second to last show. By this time Coco and I were both exhausted and truly feeling the climate. At the show situated in the Pigalle area of Paris, we arrived at TAAKK. While waiting in line, we met an interesting pair of Dutch fashion curators. It's at shows like these that you truly get to meet like-minded individuals who appreciate the artistry of fashion. Once inside, Coco quietly pointed out that two of the stars of "Emily in Paris" were in the audience. As photographers were frantically taking their photos the room came too a halt, signaling the beginning of the show. Suddenly we were all at a hush and the show began...
TAAKK's designer Takuya is a master at expressing through textiles. In this collection his passion is exhibited through perforated knit embroideries with a cable pattern that looks like a tree trunk. Takuya has always been very cognizant of the nature that is around him. This collection, "God is in the Details", expresses both his love of nature and the expression of it. The designer thinks of the cycle of growth and creation using a familiar sense of security through the cable design alongside new technology with the composition of his specialized textiles.
The amount of detail in these textiles were astounding. Piece by piece each model looked like a work of art. Fishnets layered with ruffles, crochet open knits and damask car coats all included a tremendous amount of workmanship. The textures played off of each other so well that it looked as if he had outdone nature itself. God is definitely in the details and Takuya had expressed it in the most beautiful and enchanting way.
