Kid Super AW24

The Kid Super show was everything that I thought it was going to be. Full of celebrities, beautiful people and most importantly the creativity of this American artist and designer. His background is rooted in New York City and started with a few t-shirts but his art drew the attention of many in the industry and grew into the fashion collections that we see today. Needless to say, I was elated to be invited to the show and really did not mind being in standing. To be a part of this celebration of fashion was the highlight of my Fashion Week.

After climbing 4 or 5 flights of stairs, I lost count, I finally arrived at the runway. The lighting was a purplish pink and the entire runway was overcast with hanging yarn. The theme was obviously string when the violinists scattered throughout the runway started playing. String theory tells contradictions between Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum theory. It claims everything is made of tiny vibrating strings that appear as atoms, electrons and quarks. These strings are folded together in multi-dimensional layers.

Much like this theory, the collection presented appear as one dimension but upon looking closer they have more than nine dimensions. Kid Super's work in multiple dimensions support his belief that everything is connected. Theoretically explainable but not obvious at first glance, you always have to explore further. This is what we were invited to do as the audience at the show. Beneath all of the fanfare and celebrity there was the beating heart of an artist.
