Completedworks AW24

I was having one of the best days of LFW and I had no idea that it was about to get even better. After a wonderful show at Edward Crutchley I had hopped on the tube and began my way to the next show, Completedworks. Admittedly, I did not have too much prior knowledge of this accessories brand and did not know what to expect from their presentation. Sitting on the train I looked up and saw a woman painting her nails. I admired how she could do that in a moving train without spilling or being afraid that she'll color way outside of the lines. Then she began to look familiar to me and I realized that it's actress Adjoa Andoh, Lady Danbury from the beloved Netflix series, Bridgerton!

We got off at the same stop and of course I had to strike up a conversation with her. We made small talk about her nails and she was extremely pleasant. When I arrived at the show destination, I was the first one there and extremely early. I let myself in and there was some confusion as to if I was a guest or working the event. Everybody was extremely nice and it was all sorted in the end. I sat and observed the curious setup. We were sat in a square and in the middle there was a stage with a sheer curtain all around it. Then I saw someone walk into the stage setting. Could it be? Is it really her?... Patsy Stone? There's no way.

After speculating for about 2 minutes they pulled back the curtains and there she was. It was Joanna Lumley in all of her glory and she began performing the "Confessions of Lilith" by Fatima Farheen Mirza. I have never before in my life wanted to cry from seeing somebody that I was such a big fan of, but Joanna Lumley did it for me. This was such a personal story and all I have to say is it's because of the series, "Absolutely Fabulous" that I got through what was the darkest period of my life and decided that I was going to start a new life that included attending fashion weeks, starting with London. It is because of this woman and her series that I was sitting there after all of these years. What had began as a trip that I was a little unsure of, this moment had given me the reassurance in my heart that I'm supposed to be there and I am very welcomed back.

Throughout this performance Lumley explored the space between memory and forgetting, the border between feeling and thinking and the distance between our inner and outer realms of experience. Completedworks has expressed such notions through the elongated and smooth silhouettes of their jewelry. Earrings, necklaces and rings used traditional motifs and pearls as well as sparkling crystals.

The designer chose to use a monologue as an alternative to a traditional presentation in the hopes that she could create something people can assemble their experiences around. "We wanted it to investigate something personal but also be open to elements of the collective experience that are unknown and a knowledgeable." -Anna Jewsberry

The result was absolutely magical.
