The Peacock From Ibiza
Lazoschmidl Paris Men's Fashion Week SS20
The modern peacock, but this peacock lives in Ibiza. Swedish duo Lazoschmidl brings a quirky satire of social hierarchy onto the runway. Even their choice of venue was deliciously satirical. The low key intimidate venue of the Goethe Institute served as a befitting backdrop for this delicious collection. Too cool even for the cool kids.
The pre-show was almost as fun as the actual show. I spotted models getting photos taken in the colorful glass walled terrace upstairs. Each one with even more swag than the one before, proudly wearing vibrant lurex in candied shades. As the show began a nostalgic color palette emerges. Bubble gum pink, lavender, browns, bright orange, neon greens and yellows all fashioned with a 70s and 80s feel. Tank tops, deep v-neck sweaters, sheer pants, short shorts and barely buttoned shirts were the eye candy I was waiting for. The show had plenty of exciting texture and patterns and I could not believe it when it was all over. An unexpected wave of melancholy came over me and I can’t wait to see what is in store next season.
