Pressiat SS25
The day of the Pressiat show was marked by uninspiring rain, which made the journey across town feel even more tedious. I took my time getting ready, knowing that the weather could dampen the atmosphere but not my spirits. As I arrived, I found myself in front of a fenced-off street, where wet rows of benches awaited the audience. A vintage car stood proudly, ready to serve as a backdrop for the event, adding a touch of nostalgia and charm to the scene. To my delight, when the show began, I discovered that there were additional seats inside. I was fortunate enough to be treated to one of those coveted spots, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience.
Emerging from an arid desert landscape, the Burning Era show was a striking tribute to freedom, hope, and self-expression. This immersive experience captured the life journey of a Parisian nomad through a captivating fusion of fashion, music, and performance. As the show unfolded, it painted a vivid world where individuals shone brightly, revealing their true selves.
The soundtrack for the show was crafted in collaboration with Imalaya Music and featured a live performance by Rebecca from the Lulu Von Trapp rock band. Her presence infused the runway with an eerie retro-futuristic energy that perfectly complemented Pressiat’s artistic vision.
True to his signature style, Pressiat seamlessly blended the streets of Paris with its vibrant nightlife. The collection showcased a unique juxtaposition of softness and assertive lines. Figure-hugging silhouettes in floor-sweeping skirts and dresses contrasted beautifully with petal-layered miniskirts. Pressiat's masterful tailoring was on full display with standout pieces such as an A70s-style liquid leather trench coat and blazers featuring exaggerated shoulders. The textiles used were both destroyed and refined. Cracked leather reminiscent of sun-scorched desert landscapes played against shimmering silks that evoked mirages.
Sustainability also took center stage in this collection. Upcycled Supima cotton and repurposed denim were transformed into dresses and skirts that embodied a commitment to eco-conscious fashion. Notably, many pieces were reversible and transformable, offering multiple styling options within a single garment. A dramatic black dress coat with a crinoline skirt added a touch of theatrical flair to the collection.
The Burning Era show was not just a fashion presentation; it was an audacious voyage filled with messages of hope and self-discovery. Despite the uninspiring weather outside, inside the venue was an explosion of creativity and expression that left an indelible mark on all who attended. The combination of Pressiat's innovative designs and the immersive atmosphere created an unforgettable experience that celebrated individuality in all its forms.
