Mame Kurogouchi SS24

"Fragments"
Mame Kurogouchi travels down to Arita town in Saga Prefecture, a historical town for early Imari pottery from the dawn of Japan's famed porcelain industry in the first half of the 17th century. Maiko Kurogouchi was fascinated by Japanese porcelain's rich and fine craftmanship. Inspired by the pale tones created in pursuit of an "ideal" white, which was what potters strived to achieve in the past, are expressed this season in different textures of white, ecru and mint green fabrics. The gentle glow created by translucent glaze can be seen in the choice of the textiles that are a bit more transparent. The fine craftsmanship of pottery reflected so well in this collection. Every single detail is inclusive of the theme. Every single pattern looks like a color glaze; the fabrics and the way that they interact with embossed textures clearly demonstrated the creation of pottery. Textures that are matte, satin and glossy are all found within this collection. This beautifully executed SS24 season is a true demonstration of Kurogouchi's artisanal touch.
