"Nature is trying very hard to make us succeed, but nature does not depend on us. We are not the only experiment." - R. Buckminster Fuller

We may feel like we own the Earth but the truth is, the Earth owns us. More than ever, we as a collective consciousness are finally wrapping our heads around this. We are constantly working within a natural framework, not the other way around. The foundations for this collection is cotton, wool, shearling, leather and metal. All of these natural materials are manipulated and shaped to express the aesthetics and functionality that enhance our lives. This collection started as a study of nature and its shapes and layers. From tree bark to moss and flowers. The hand knit pieces echo the jagged landscape and only traces of human interference are evident in the attached patchwork, seemingly trying to blend into nature.

In the second season of OAMC, an artisanal, custom made approach was taken. There are no standardized patterns as each garment was individually fitted and adjusted according to the shape of the original vintage piece. Ready made items were taken apart, reconstructed, redyed and shaped. OAMC upcycles military field jackets and Swiss army shirts and trousers. It is through this conscious design that humans can work with nature instead of creating more to destroy it.

Nature should be cherished as it is the real source of all materials and our sustenance. In order to preserve nature it is a collaborative effort and OAMC is partnered with several charities to help improve and preserve our planet.
