YCH LFW SS20

Yoon Choon Ho is one of the most recognizable fashion figures in Seoul. Having several appearances and winnings on fashion survival tv shows in Korea he had garnered a large following and successfully launched his line, YCH in 2016. Since its inception, YCH has had many collaborations with large brands and K-Pop celebrities. In this SS20 collection, YCH explores feminism and how it has evolved through the years. How are the core values of feminism being tarnished and misinterpreted in some countries, including South Korea where it has degenerated into creating a further division between the genders. Choon Ho asks what is the fundamental ideology of feminism and how were efforts to promote women’s rights made throughout the centuries? Inspired by Annie Oakley’s win against a male sharpshooter, Choon Ho presented his thought provoking SS20 collection.

Exaggerated trench coats and long vests paired with ten gallon hats and easy button down shirts paraded up and down the runway. Every look was direct, full of strength and female swagger. Choon Ho’s take on the traditional tan trench was over-sized and dramatic, it is for a woman who announced her presence. I want to be her. I want to swagger into a room. Beautiful muted neutral tones were punched up by tidbits of yellow and green. Paper bag pants paired with bustier tops and floor length vests. A high neck sleeveless dress with a ruffled handkerchief hem struts with neon green half chap boots. It was striking… This show was the wild west in this timeline. Fresh, empowered and celebratory.
