The Influencer Lounge
Mark Fast AW20
My very last show at London Fashion Week, February 2020. It was chilly, it was wet and I was freezing. As I walked into the lobby for the Mark Fast show I could tell that I just showed up at the “Influencer Lounge” and I was more than happy to just people watch during my wait. After about 20 minutes of watching groups of fashion influencers roll in excitedly and pose for coutless selfies, the highly anticipated show was about to begin.
I was seated well, unobstructed view. This is exciting because I knew I could truly soak in all of the looks that will whizz by me. The music plays from the DJ booth as the crowd files in. Then suddenly the lights changed from an ambient purple haze to a bright camera friendly show light and the music turns up. The first look struts past me and I focused on the beautiful blue fur and wool blazer with a 60s inspired jeweled brooch. I already loved where this was going. Next, beautifully patterned knits and jackets walked by me, bold camo print, reinvented animal print and some old school vibed stripes. The go-go boots and headbands were abundant and the spirit of the free loving 60s was unleashed.
The feathered gowns…if I have ever wanted anything right off the runway before I didn’t remember what those items were because these gowns were everything to me at that moment. Floating feathers undulated and danced with each step, held together by a delicate knit that hugged and flattered every curve. Rich, sexy purples, pinks and smoldering grey completely seduced me. I needed more of the feathers.
Mark Fast is an innovative knitwear designer who knows exactly what makes a heart go pitter patter. The collection in its entirety was bold and audacious but also completely wearable in real life. This was in my humble opinion, the perfect collection to end my AW20 LFW.
