Accidental Cutting AW22

As we move at lightening speed towards the Metaverse, so does fashion. At first glance, I had the impression that this collection may have been an NFT. Much to my surprise (and relief) I have come to discover, “Upside down”- Our World our Time” is an actual collection that is available in the 4D. The collection refers to the instability of living within the framework of the COVID-19 pandemic. The world was living in the perpetual fluctuation of lockdown and freedom. Everything has changed; from the way we communicate, the way we work and the way we socialize. During this confusing time, one's intuition can opt to do nothing until the timing is right. The intuitive mind-body tells us to remain in stillness, stand motionless as a form of self preservation whilst the outside world keeps naturally moving and evolving. None can be more true than in the digital and virtual environments at this time.

In "Upside Down", Eva Iszoro takes us through a virtual environment in a video game format. Panning throughout the creepy abandoned office, we come across various mannequins in different poses and some are eerily suspended in mid air, reminiscent of an exorcism. I was half expecting a jump scare. As the models remain still in this period of time, it is not too out of the scope of the imagination to think that perhaps when they were first suspended the office wasn't abandoned. Perhaps, through time, it has increasingly become more scarcely used until we arrived at its current state. A mausoleum of sorts for the old way of office working and the mannequins were witnesses to the ever changing ideals of the new ways of working and presenting products.

Accidental Cutting utilized various new and experimental patterning techniques for this collection. The experimentation also extends to the textile design of prints; scanning everyday objects, many of them worthless such as brushes, rulers and plastic bags. These images are then mixed with pieces of Accidental Cutting jewelry methacrylate cutouts and the brand's label. The result of this multi disciplinary presentation is a unique foray into how we produce and present fashion from now and well into the future.
