Minimalistic Femininity
Marta Jabukowski London Fashion Week AW19
London based designer Marta Jabukowski is the epitome of minimalistic femininity. Her AW19 collection was nothing short of feminine power. The color palette was confident. Browns and reds dominated the staple black pieces. The fluidity of the silhouettes are not only designed to flatter a woman’s figure but are cut and draped to reveal the magic of owning one’s power.
The collection started with a long skirt suit in caramel tones. An impactful red flower clasped in the model’s mouth played off the earthy tone. The first few looks consisted of long draped suits and coats in autumn browns and was designed in a style reminiscent of the early 90s “wall street look”. The power suit and trench coat was restructured as asymmetrical layered monochrome designs that resonate with the new definition of today’s woman. Berries and oranges made a brief appearance followed by deconstructed knitwear in various textures of cable and ribbed knit. The components of a sweater wrapped around arms, necks and across torsos; never coming together to completely close into a traditional sweater.
The show continued with deceptively simple looks that graze a figure and exposed bare backs and hip cut outs. The finale featured a striking red long caped gown/jumpsuit hybrid integrating the masculine and feminine in one dynamic conclusion.
