Tatras X Riot Hill Men's AW20

From the moment I spotted Bella Hadid coming in I could tell this is going to be a very different show than the women’s one for SS20. The crowd was growing uncomfortably antsy as we waited 45 min past the show start time. The room was overly crowded and hot, but full of buzzing excitement. Then she walked in and everyone went nuts. There was a woman to my left who was audibly excited and the paparazzi went crazy, clicking and flashing uncontrollably.

With over 13 years of experience and 350 stores worldwide, Tatras dominates in both technological innovation and style in the outerwear market with designer Masanaka Sakao at the helm. Tatras’ signature style is simple, essential and understatedly luxurious. Tatras is perpetually provocative and relevant through their collaborations. This season their collaboration with LA based designer Jordan Fresher of Riot Hill is no exception. Since its inception in 2018, with the support of The Weekend, the young brand quickly rose to the top with a cult following for their utilitarian and industrial designs.

The show began with a model storming the runway in black multi-pocketed pants and army boots.  Bomber jackets, utilitarian cargo coats and parkas charged the Palais de Tokyo. Denim jackets in acid wash made an appearance as well as over-sized puffer coats that one can absolutely live in in the winter. The pace of the show was fast, direct, militant. The energy was simply electrifying. This collaboration was the perfect storm. Bringing this industrial style to the luxury market is no easy feat and Tatras X Riot Hill did just that, spectacularly.
