"Memory of a Dress"
Edeline Lee AW21
AW21 Edeline Lee presents her collection as a short story, "Memory of a Dress" in collaboration with podcaster Paul Bae. Edeline comments: “We are all navigating the digital landscape right now, but my brand operates on a human-scale." This season is an experimentation with storytelling in digital mediums, positioning fashion back in the realm of a form of performance art. In the past couple of decades, fashion has made a drastic turn towards industrialized manufacturing and fast fashion. In the pivotal year of 2020, when we were all forced to reevaluate what fashion really is, it was a call to the designers to explore their inner artists. It could not have come at a better time, now we have the chance to show a brand new generation the value of art in design.
AW21 features complex cutting, a chunky bullet-pleat fabric manipulation and confident shapes, expanding on the feminine and spirited vocabulary of EDELINE LEE’S oeuvre. The house’s signature, universally flattering Flou Bubble Jacquard is represented in Malachite and Black this season, and the Georgette Champion appears in shades of Brown, Amber Green, Mustard and Black. Fluid Georgette Crinkle pieces are cut in hues of Mustard and Brown. The house also introduces a brand new capsule of loungewear made of 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton. Edeline states: “I wanted to make some luxurious, sustainable staples that one could wear out, but also sleep in. You can roll out of bed and take a Zoom call in these pieces!” All Edeline Lee pieces are made by hand in England, of fabrics woven in Italy and France.
