Modern Monet
Davi AW20
Walking into the Davi presentation was like entering a salon of dreams. 7 impeccably dressed figures looked like well dressed Gods sent to earth for a day. The dreamy backdrop of watercolor-like fabrics draped throughout the rooms. Each figure in an ensemble of a nocturnal garden. The setting straddled between semi awareness and a dream world where one doesn’t know which realm they are actually experiencing.
In this 4th collection by Davi inspiration was drawn from the myth of Hyphos, the God personifying sleep. The muted tones added a dark and mysterious element to the floral and abstract imagery throughout the collection. It felt to me like Monet after dark, a modern impressionist dream. The prints and colors interact with each other in a chaos that is not unpleasant; you just go with it. The floral motifs and splashes of color directed you from one dream sequence to another. Davi sent me through a mystical dream that I look forward to revisiting in the upcoming seasons.
