Marie Adam-Leenaerdt AW24

I couldn't believe I was back in Paris again. It had been only 4 days since I was in London and about a month since I've just been in Paris for Men's Fashion Week. But I wasn't complaining, I was celebrating the beginning of a very exciting Paris Fashion Week. This was my first Marie Adam-Leenaerdt show and I couldn't wait to get to it.

Every time I walk up closer to a show I usually don't need my Google Maps anymore. I could see the fashion bus pulling up and a crowd of people buzzing about with the paparazzi outside. As I approached I saw a woman in a frou frou pink dress just having the time of her life. Her energy was infectious. All the photographers were taking pictures of her and she just said, "I don't even know what I'm doing! I'm just having a great f-ing time!" And all I could think was, " Same girl, same."

This season the inspiration was simple. Skirts. Designer Marie Adam-Leenaerdt has leaned all in on the skirt trend. We've been seeing it for a few seasons now, a return to skirts. I'm actually a lot more open to it than I thought I would be. I really do need another option other than my leggings or bootcut leggings. Jeans are completely out of the question for me. And nobody over the age of 19 should actually be wearing sweatpants out in public. As we all waited for the show to start, there was an '80s theme playing through the music. Madonna's "Like a Virgin" was on the speakers and I happily saying along in my head. As the show began the ‘80s continued.

Power suits were the stand out for me. Power suits in gray, red and black. There were also the most interesting accessories, three pocketbooks in one, mega expandable carry-ons, oversized scarves. I absolutely loved the oversized coats and scarves, reminded me of when a kid gets a little lost in their winter clothing. The look was polished but not stuffy. There was an element of ease even in the power suits. The large shoulders were prevalent but they were also slouched. There wasn't a drastic nip in the waist so you can relax a bit. The skirts that were paired with the looks varied in length but usually from the shins down. There were a few mini skirt looks but I for one loved the more modest translations of the skirt. It's just kind of hard to wear a mini in my opinion, you always have to watch how you're moving and where you're sitting.

The success of this collection not only lies in the designs of the clothing, it was also largely due to the color story. Through the muted grays, stone and basic blacks there were pops of red, yellow, green and magenta. Pairing olive and magenta has always been a favorite of mine and I loved seeing them in the same collection. A kelly green with a charcoal suit is also gorgeous. The updated playfulness of the colors completely modernized this iteration of the ‘80s. The designer really had fun with this collection and it comes through magnificently. It's a jubilant collection against the cold and damp AW season.
