Ximonlee AW23

"Like the wild hyacinth flower which on the hills is found, which the passing feet of the shepherds for ever tear and wound, until the purple blossom is trodden into the ground." - Sappho

Ximonlee's AW23 collection stems from the concept of a character that embodies resilience, protection, and self-defense. Inspired by the protagonist from the 1984 Japanese post-apocalyptic anime film, "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" by Hayao Miyazaki, the aesthetic is includes armor, military and biker styles, reflecting the increasingly challenging and harsh environment. These elements attribute to the romantic warrior aesthetic.

The silhouettes of the season embody a sense of rugged stability and a contrast between toughness and fearlessness. Chunky arms and legs highlight the warrior-like outerwear, in contrast to more form-fitting pieces. This collection continues to embrace gender-neutrality in men's fashion. The collection also focuses on the interplay of different layers, folds, and fabric textures, as well as contrasts in body volumes, such as the memory leather used in a blazer and biker jacket that creases like paper. Ximonlee's signature hand-stitched creases provide an illusion of temporary accidents, appearing on pants, tank tops, overcoats, and jackets. This textural motif continues onto accessories, such as the "bra bag" crossbody tote and arm sleeves.

This season also explores the versatility of detachable pieces, such as detachable long coats and pants that can be transformed into more dramatic, towering silhouettes. The signature chain lock design can also be found on unisex skirts and long dresses, featuring a range of intricate details.
